Bulk junk

I am to the point where I don’t even know where to write b/c I have been so out of touch. It’s a bummer. I have to get better about pictures and blogging again.

Today was not our normal Monday. Usually, Monday is floor day. I have to split up the household chores per day so I can actually tackle them and get them done during nap time. And still give myself a moment or two to take a break as well, let’s be honest. Instead, we went to do our weekly grocery shopping today. Mostly b/c the blueberry hound ate an entire 2 pint container of blueberries ALL BY HERSELF in 2 1/2 days. Yes, her poop is indigo. And her nails have a bluish hue around the cuticles, no scrubbing will get it off. So we went to Publix and Sam’s Club first thing this morning. I like to go early so we can be home in time for at least a good afternoon nap.

I have had a deep seeded love for Sam’s since I was in about 6th grade. So, what is that, about 21 years? I just love bulk. It gives me the same feeling that writing on a new, thick pad of paper with a new, great pen does. It is just great. I don’t know that I would buy the same stuff that I do these days if we actually lived close enough to go to a real store more often, but I am used to getting things when we are down to about only 1 week’s worth of stuff.

Our local Sam’s has been undergoing a MASSIVE renovation for about a year. It is mildly annoying b/c things move almost every time you go, but it is nice. I guess the larger size means they have more things to choose from. One thing that I really enjoy is the cooler of ready made meals and salad they have. We have tried many of them…. the general’s chicken is by far the best. It is SO good. We also enjoy the rotisserie chicken they sell. We have been on a 2 chicken a week buying pattern with them since Libby was about 7 months old. SHE LOVES THEM. (And eat the chicken 2 times a day. Every day. No lie.) I would call myself a seasoned pro at deboning it now. I have it down to a science and it takes me no time. It is pretty awesome. We have finally talked a few other people into getting them to. It just makes life easier. Casseroles, chicken dinners, chicken salad, etc. You name it, you can use those babies for it.

And the diapers, don’t even get me started on them. They are the only ones we use. The name brands all leak, but not the Sam’s brand. They recently changed names on the box, and it seems the actual diaper has changed a bit too. Only for the better though. Adore them.

Their produce = AWESOME! I mean, I could go on. But I won’t.

The girls have been able to enjoy being outside lately. It was SO nice for about 4 days and now it is pretty hot again, but not nearly as bad as it was in the middle of the summer. Matthew power washed the porches off for us last Friday so everything is really fresh and nice. If only all the bugs and biting insects would die. Libby LOVES being outside. She always has. I am looking forward to picnics in the yard when it cools down a touch more.

Celie starts school this week! She is beyond excited. Matthew and I are taking her to do something very special after we pick her up from her first day, I am not telling her anything about it because I want it to be a treat. I had a mom meeting last week and got to show Celie her folder for school when I got home. She has asked to hold it and open it about 50 times since then. No backpacks or lunchboxes are allowed, so this folder is a huge deal. I can’t believe it is almost time for her to go to school! It is bittersweet. I know she is going to love it and have a blast, but it doesn’t seem like she should be old enough to go just yet. My big girl.

Libby is SO close to walking. Every day she takes more and more steps on her own. She is still not interested in being helped along, she prefers doing it on her own. And I am happy to let her. It is interesting and frustrating to see her personality develop more and more. She does a lot of stuff differently than Celie did, so she is a bit of a challenge. Her temper is really what we are trying to work on. She can really throw down. I mean, really. I just ignore it the best I can and hope she will just move on after she sees she is not getting what she wants or the attention she was seeking, but that doesn’t seem to work all the time. As frustrated as I get about that, it is different to not have to worry about her getting into cabinets or messing with decorative items that are not toys to be touched or played with. Celie was the opposite. I remember redirecting her a ZILLION times when she was this age. They are both just as sweet as they can be, though, and they are such joys to be with. I am really thankful I have been able to be home with them this past year.

Well, I thought I commented before but it didn't work, so here goes again.

Sams is by far the best place to shop. The quality of items they sell can't be beat. I just wish it was closer.

Way to go Libby! You will be walking before you know it.

Celie will probably love going to preschool. Paisley gets up so excited every morning about going.
